Mangalore: An international KITE(flying) Festival is being organised in city, by Team Mangalore from STS Event management group headed by Sarvesh Rao and Giridhar Kamath at the Panambur beach as on 21st and 22nd January 2012. The team is renowned across the world as a hobby group of Kites makes and fliers.
The flying event commences of 3:00 PM (afternoon) on 21st and 22nd. There are no entry fees, no formalities, and no public speeches, but only fun and frolic in the business of flying colourful kites in various sizes and shapes.
The “Festival Flag” kite will be up in the sky in a clean beach weather, in the presence of P.P. Upadhya, a scholar and technical director, P. Jayarama Bhat, a banker and city Police commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh.
Some special kites will be launched by dignitaries, sponsors and patrons. Flying of Kite ends at 7PM on Saturday.
On January 22, Sunday, an exhibition ‘My Kite to God’ will be inaugurated by DK-DC and Magistrate, Dr. N.S. Channappa Gowda in Mangalore, from 3PM. The flying at Panambur ends at 7PM with a valedictory function.
All participating national and international kite flyers will be feted in the presence of U.K. Basu(MD of MRPL), Tamilvanan of NMPT, and Mukund Kamath of Ideal Ice-creams Co.,
The event is mainly sponsored by MRPL and ONGC. Benefactors include Karnataka Bank, Gold Finch Hotel, and Ideal Ice-creams, and others.
17 foreign Flyers from 7 countries and several local players have agreed to participate in this eye filling, enjoyable festival for families of viewers.
Specially kites include Kathakkali, Yaksha, Gajaraja, Bhoota Kola, Pushpak Vimana and 12 feet wide ‘Avatar Bird’ Kite, that is a new addition bound to attract all people who attend this 2012 festival.
