Mangalore : Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the newly constructed Commissionerate Office near Nehru Maidan on Jan 28, Saturday.
Later speaking at the formal stage function he said that Mangalore is one of the important coastal regions of Karnataka and the Centre reminds this by giving more benefits and funds to the Coastal regions.
He also said that the former CM B S Yeddyurappa had laid that foundation stone to the Commissionerate Office on August 23 last year and I got an opportunity to inaugurate the building constructed at the cost of Rs 5.8 crore building.
This building constructed reflects the concern of State Government towards the district and the home minister has sanctioned enough fund required for other projects like police training facility, sea erosion and other to make it a full pledged state in the country, he said.
The state has also given an anti naxal and anti terrorism force to the state and the police officials always ready for their duty to tackle any problem. He also appreciated the police department to maintain law and order in the city during 17th National Youth Festival and Bala Srujanotsav and gained appreciation from all parts of the country.
He said that in 2 years apart from 17 stations in Dakshina Kannada all other stations will be appointed with one PSI as the in charge. The state government has given 82 vehicles for the police department and it is functioning all the 24 hours across the city, he said.
He said that in the coming budget he will sanction more fund from the police housing corporation and provide good quarters for the police constables.
IPS Shankar Bidari, president of Police Housing Corporation said that in 2030, Mangalore will grow in every level and stand equal to Mumbai.
CM DV Sadananda Gowda and Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya felicitated the recipient of Presidents Shourya Award like T R Puttaswamy Gowda and Rajesh K. They also felicitated Srinivas R, chief engineer of the building, Simon, director of Simon Associates, Ganesh of Guardian Construction and CCL Organization.
Delivering the presidential address, R Ashok, Home and Transport Minister said that the government has received the request for building before 17 years but now fulfilled. Mangalore is different from Bangalore, but Mangalore has a port and it makes a unique feature.
Mangalore has confronting with various problems and the police department have come forward for every problem with other department.
The police officials will get the houses in the coming days constructed in the Australian Technology in the time of 15 days by MN Reddy.
He said that the communal violence’s has reduced to 7-8 in Mangalore compared to previous years and the credit goes to police department.
Speaking about the naxal effected areas, he said that the state government has introduced a package offer for the naxal and many of them have left their groups and leading a normal life back in their home.
