New Delhi: As already reported from New Delhi, Karnataka secured the third prize for a tableau depicting Bhootharadhana (worship of spirits) special to DK district and Kasaragod. The tableau had participated in Republic Day Parade recently and earned appreciation of all onlookers, and admiration of Kannadigas in Delhi.
Defence minister A.K.Antony presented the 3rd prize award to K.S. Bevinmarada, director of state information department on Tuesday, Jan.31, five days after the parade on Raj path in New Delhi.
Last year, Karnataka had bagged the second prize among 13 selective tableaus of as many states, for its Pattadakallu temple.
55 artistes put on costumes of spirits under worship to dance on Raj Path, during the Parade. The North Indian viewers had marveled at the traditional style of spirit worship, mostly seen on Karnataka West Coast around certain shrines, as in Dharmasthala Kasaragod and Udupi regions.
