Mangalore: A Fisherman Gopal, hung on to a net for his life all night long, having gone from Boloor Bokkapatna, on board ‘Jala Mayura’ (water peacock) early this week from the old port, only to ship and fall into sea at a distance of 30 nautical miles, when he was on the deck.
A thorough search was made for several hours this week, but he was not found. There was a fear of his drowning at sea and he was not expected to live on.
But luckily, Gopal found a large net cast at a distance in dim sky light, so with determination and strength at his command, he swam towards the life-saver net, and clutched it firmly fill day break.
When the crew on board his boat began dragging the net back, to their utter Surprise, who should be caught like a fish but Gopal himself? He was exhausted and painting for life, yet he survived.
