Mangalore : The Ship Andria 3 belonging to the Marcon Shipping Limited on it way from Jakarta to Iran, reached the centre of sea near Thannir Bhavi due to the rough sea and heavy breeze on July 27, Tuesday.
Mukund Nayak, inspector of Costal guard, The vessel was sailing empty along with seven Indonesian’s workers and Iranian Captain as cabin crew in the ship.
According to Nayak, there was shortage of food items in the ship, the agents will provide it to the crew he said. According to captain of the ship, the ship started to sink in the sea due to the shortage of fuel. The uncompromised weather and heavy breeze made the ship to loose fuel filled inside the tank.
The crew had anchored the ship at the distance of 5 nautical instead of ten nautical, which was not a safe place to anchor, said DC V Ponnuraj, speaking on the occasion.
Speaking after the incident, Ponnuraj said that the number of persons in the ship yet to verify and verification work has been assigned to costal guard.
