Udupi: A local Mogaveera Gurikara Conference was held on Sunday, at Shyamli. Hall to install new Udupi office bearers at the Udupi district level by Dr G. Shankar Family Trust of Ambalpadi, along with Mogaveera Youths.
Magician Dr. G. Shankar himself inaugurated the convention in a traditional way. Speaking on the occasion, he explained that Gurikars (family heads) had rendered great service to the Mogaveera society, but it should not stop there. The Mogaveera youths had organised blood donation camps, health cards, and note books (to students) distribution in the last 2 years.
The new incoming youth committee should collect 10,000 units of blood for medical purposes, and arrange mass wedding of at least 100 couples in the coming years, he advised, chalking out a programme for active youths.
Entrepreneur and Mogaveera leader Pramod Madhwaraj total the gathering that in the recent years, Mogaveeras were walking a wrong path. But G. Shankar was trying to bring them on right track. Apart from blood donation camps, Mogaveeras need education, and schools have to be established exclusively for them in the coastal regions, so that youths can get nourishment and better qualities.
Gurikars of Mogaveeras are crusaders for traditional and cultural values in their hands.
Some of the outgoing youth leaders, like Sathish M. Naik and KM shivaram among others, were felted by Dr. G. Shankar on the occasion.
Association logos and financial support bonds, also monetary aid to Gurikars (family heads) were presented. A book Molahalhi Manjunath Naik was released, by M.L. Samaga of Yakshagana Academy.
G. Shamkar announced a grant of Rs 1,10,000 to MM Naik endowment award, to be given to Yakshagana artistes every year.
New district unit Chief Jaya C. Kotian presided. Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon DK Mogaveera Leader Keshava Kunder, Fish Federation leader yashpal suvarng and many other local leaders were present.
Sanjiva M.S. welcomed, and G.S. Kanchan thanked the gathering which earlier remembered DR. V.S. Acharya for his services.
