Bangalore: H.N. Satyanaryana Rao has been appointed as the new Lokayukta – ADGP, in place of Jeevan Kumar V. Gaonkar, who was there only for 3 months and now shifted to the vacant post of Assistant DGP (administration), on Thursday (Feb. 23) under a Government order.

It is customary to obtain Lokayuta’s permission before an ADGP is transferred out of LA office. But as there is no Lokayukta since about 6 months and no one is named as a possible candidate, Gaonkar is on transfer. Yet, the “acting Lokayukta” has not been consulted either, Government sources said, without mentioning who that is.
