Secunderabad : Three people died when an old building housing Punjab National Bar & Restaurant collapsed in Monda market area of Secunderabad on Saturday.
The incident occurred when repair works were being carried out on the restaurant building. The restaurant was closed for last two months.
It was suspected that five persons were buried alive.When the workers were engaged in repair work, the building caved in suddenly trapping 3 footpath vendors under the debris. Two bodies were taken out the debris so far.
Alerted by the incident the local residents and police plunged into the rescue work.It is learnt that around 10 workers were working at the spot when the building collapsed suddenly. The injured were rushed to the Gandhi Hospital.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A K Khan inspected the spot and said that appropriate action would be taken against the restaurant owner for the incident.
Hyderabad Mayer Majid Hussain also visited the spot and announced Rs one lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased.
