Udupi: AICC Chief Sonia G, has appointed her general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes as Chairman for Udupi by-poll Campaigning Committee, for the polling due on March 18.

KPCC secretary M.A. Gafoor from Udupi confirmed the appointment, giving the by-poll a due weight.

Thee & Seven more senior party leaders will be incharge of & assembly segments in 2 district of Udupi and Chikkamagalur, as assured by AICC general secretary Madhusudan Mistry to Oscar. JD-s nominee is not known.

The implication is that Congress will go all out win the insignificant by-poll, in what is BJP’s lion’s den Udupi, to beard it after Dr. V.S. Acharya death.

Dr. Acharya is credited with being the first BJP leader in South India, to capture a Town Council body, 25 year go.
