Kasaragod: An anonymous (unknown) telephone call received on Thursday morn by a caller who warned the railway officials here that a bomb had been planted on the station premises and could go off any moment brought security personnel rushing in to search the hidden bomb frantically even pressing the services of bomb disposal squad and Sniffer dog teams but in vain ,
The call was terrorist in nature but false indeed.
Search operations nevertheless lasted full 2 hours around the area to be sure.
Yet railway workers did not allow a panic to spread there but went around quietly in search of any explosive so much so no passenger on platform ever felt scared due to rumours.
Still on March 3 pipe bombs had been placed on these railway tracks and a train had passed over then without so much as touching or feeling about them near Cheruvathur, some distance away.
It was decided in a police meeting now soon after the scare and hoax show that a police force should patrol the rail tracks more closely. S. Sreejith, Dig-(North) took the lead to cover a hundred Kins of railway track from Thursday onwards, between payyanoor and Mangalore to keep off all terrorists.
