Bantwal: A day-long sit-in Satyagraha was conducted by affected Dalits whose several files went missing from a taluk office here on March 12, Monday.

Several Dalit organisations led the angry protest show. The Tahsildar of Bantwal had been trapped red-handed by Lokayukta police recently.

The Dalits had numerous complaints against the poor functioning of the local Taluk office. The picketing Dalits in hundreds condemned the unhelpful attitude of Taluk officials as anti-Dalit as files were kept pending for Sanction of housing sites and lands, in the last 3 years.

Dalits could not bear the harassment of officials any longer. The Dharna was day-long explosive.

When CPC Anil Kulkarni failed to appease them, AC-Mangalore Dr, Venkatesh came over and spoke to the protestors to suspend their strike.
