Mangalore: A bulk carrier ‘MV CMB Pomerol’ belonging to M/s Pacific Bridge Shipping Corporation of the Republic of Panama, arrived at New Mangalore Port carrying a load of 89,794 metric tons of coal.

The vessel has been received on behalf of the Port Management and garlanded the captain of the vessel, Eduardp H Mondres.

This consignment of coal was imported from South Africa for M/s Jindal Steel Limited and was discharged at NMP’s deep draft berth through harbour mobile cranes.

During the 2011 – 12, the port handled 3.40 million tons of coal as against the 2.61 million tons handled during the same time in the previous fiscal year, recording a 30.5 percent growth.
