Mangalore: Gulzar Banu of the Congress party, who was recently elected to the post of mayor of Mangalore, happens to a student of BEM School. Surprisingly, event Amitakala, the deputy mayor, studied in the same school.
Both the mayor and the deputy mayor were felicitated today by the South Canara Educational and Cultural Society, Basel Evangelical Mission Education Institutions, and the Old Student’s Association of BEM on March 13 Tuesday.
The mayor and the deputy mayor promised that they will help these institutions when they are in power. The school, which is nearly 173 years old, has educated thousands of students who now hold top positions in society.
Walter J. Maben, Alwyn Colaco, Rohan Shiri, Alwyn Anand, Vittal Acharya, A. M. Raffiuddin, BEM Principal Roshan Kumar, Headmaster Jayashankar P, and Headmistress Jayanthi Purushottam were also present on this occasion.
