Nagarahole: A forest fire detected on Tuesday afternoon by forest officials at the national wildlife sanctuary in Nagarhole in Karmod sector near Hunsur since 1961 and now is raging without being controlled.
Several areas of this reserved forest are on fire, with extensive loss of food and water to the beasts and birds.
Areas like Kallahalla, Anechowkur, Nagarahole, Kymore, and so on, have smoke and breeze on fire.
Metikuppe jungle region got charred in March first week in a fire. The dry Bamboo graves seen in Thattekerehadlu area have helped the fire to expand and devastate huge areas of grass and trees .It is not yet known as to how many acres of forests are gone with fire.
Additional staffs are called by Forest department to extinguish the ever spreading fire, Nagarahole conservator of Forests, Vijay Ranjan Singh told newsmen.
About 60 volunteers from Kodagu are engaged in the war against fire. Anekad in Kushalnagar and Gudde-hosur area (of CM’s wife’s relations), and in Attur forest, fire was discovered 2 days ago.
