Mangalore : The District BJP Mahila Morcha organized a Rani Abbakka Ratha Yatra from District BJP office on Friday March 30.
Senior District BJP Mahila Morcha activist Sharadha Ghate flagged of the Ratha. He also wished the success for the yatra.
Mahila Morcha general secretary Sumana Sharan said that the yatra is being held as a part of State-level women’s conference, “Naari Shakthi Sangama”, which will be conducted at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore on March 31.
Ratha yatras from nine districts will start on March 30 and reach the conference venue the next day accompanied by the 4 women activists from city and members in each bus from 8 mandalis from Dakshina Kannada so that total of 500 women from participate in the conference.
Each district will start with the yatra of the women freedom fighter of their district ad hence to reach the name of Abbakka to the national level, Rani Abbakka’s Yatra is being taken. In the conference Umavathi Suvarna will disguise herself as Rani Abbakka.
BJP district president Padmanabha Kottary, VHP secretary Jagadeesh Shenava, BJP unit president Srikar Prabhu, Deputy Mayor Amithakala, Prathap Simha Nayak, Kishore Kumar, Roopa D Bangera, R Shantha and others were present.
