Mangalore : The Christian community observed Maundy Thursday on April 5 to celebrate the historic Last Supper of Jesus, who had washed the feet of his 12 disciples, a day before the Passover.
They believe that Jesus washed his disciples’ feet to convey the message of love and brotherhood and thus they too follow the same ritual.
Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore diocese, conducted the ritual of washing the feet of 12 from Rosario parish and distributed bread to all the devotees.
Friday will be observed as Good Friday, the day on which Jesus died for the sins of mankind.
