Mangalore: Some Bajrang Dal active workers on receiving prior fool proof information on cattle being carried by a van to slaughter house, chased the heavy vehicle from Panambur and forcibly stopped it, with cattle as goods at Kottara. But they were in for tragedy.

The driver in a panicky situation, wanted to escape but took the van in reverse, and hit a mound of mud on roadside, lost control of the wheel, leading to an overturning of the vehicle. Two of the 3persons escaped, but the injured third person was in the van ready meat. They were being taken illegally from Jokatte to central market, perhaps to Kerala. Driver’s high speed caused the gruesome tragedy. The injured person was handed over to the police.

Recently on April 5 Barangis had stopped another vehicle going to Kudroli and saved the 17 cattle in it. On Saturday, only dead cows were found in the van that turned turtle.
