Puttur: The decoration works (such as flags, vegetables and nuts tying on sides, colour painting, wood worthiness of the cart etc) of small chariot to be drawn by devotees and pilgrims around the car street, on the outer circle courts of the temple at night on Monday.
The giant chariot (Brahma Ratha) festival is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 the flags have to be stuck on the top of this huge car that will move out on streets on Tuesday.
Those who serve in this work at Subrahmanya have taken up getting the big car in Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwar Temple premises as well. The car rises to a height of 71 feet with huge wheels and hundreds of red and white flags.
The chariot will be dutifully pulled by devotees with God’s image in flower decorations in it on April 17th night in the Car street area, after the ear-shattering sounds and fireworks of burning crackers in various shapes, colours and intensities of small bomb explosions take place first, when God gets ready to move on his giant chariot.
