Tumkur: Dr. V.S. Acharya was a rare politician with a straight conduct that the country has ever seen, and he was responsible for my(DVS Gowda’s) catapulting from an ordinary MP to Karnataka CM post, said CM DVS Gowda, unveiling a new brass statue here of Dr. U.S. A.

A memorial hall and a statue were unveiled by CM at the Tumkur University campus on Saturday here.

Dr. VSA was available to all who called on him. He would listen patiently to anyone who phoned him up said CM who released two books in English and Kannada on late Dr. VSA’s life.

He praised the University authorities for the honour done to Dr VSA, with a hall and statue in his name, besides 2 books.

He felt happy at the distinct progress made by the new Tumkur University, in a short span of few years in Karnataka, among so many others.

Siddaganga Math President Siddalinga Swamy, Ramakrishna Ashram Chief Dr. Veereshananda, local MLA Sogadu Shivanna, Higher Education principal secretary Siddaiah, Ms. Shantha V. Acharya, Vice-Chancellor Dr. S.C. Sharma, Registrar Prof. D. Shivalingaiah among others, were present on the memorable occasion of remembering a gentleman politician.
