Mangalore : The DK district administration observed the 121st birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Town Hall on April 14, Saturday.
The event was jointly organized by the ZP, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), district administration, and Social Welfare Department (SWD).
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the event. All the dignitaries offered floral tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s portrait.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof. Abhay Kumar, said that Ambedkar is a national leader although he came from the Dalit community. Like wise even though Devraj Urs worked for the welfare of the backward classes, he is not been remembered to present day.
MLA Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, CDA Chairman B. Nagaraj Shetty, ZP Vice President Dhanalaxmi Janardhan, DK ZP Secretary Vijayalakshmi Shetty; ZP CEO K. N. Vijayaprakash, Deputy Mayor Amitakala, Karnataka Minority Wing President N. B. Abubakker, DC Dr. Channappa Gowda, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, SP Abhishek Goyal, and Prof. Abhay Kumar of the department of Kannada in Mangalore University were also present.
