Byndoor : Cattle in Paduveri are dying large numbers after eating dangerous chemical waste dumped on the Ottinene grounds, which is used to graze cattle by farmers.
The dairy farmers have lost 71 cows so far in 3 days.
Paudveri village has 45 families and each consisting of two to 35 cows. So far over fifteen families have lost all their cattle.
The veterinary officers from Hemmadi and Byndoor, Dr. Babanna Poojari and Dr. Nagaraj, said that they do no know which poison is killing them, hence they are given symptomatic treatment.
Speaking about the medical report, the say that they have conducted post mortem of few cows and viscera have been sent to a forensic lab in Mangalore. They said that only cattle left for grazing at Ottinene grounds are showing these symptoms.
Dr. Nagaraj it is difficult to identify the chemical waste, since some miscreants have set fire to the waste dumped at Ottinene using petrol to tamper the evidence.
