Bangalore: Before a 5-year term ends an year hence in May 2013, some MLAs want to go abroad on a study tour only to indulge them selves, but they have sent a proposal to CM’s office expecting favourable response. It was decided in 2009 that MLAs could go out on study tours, once abroad and thrice in India.
Now these BJP MLA s want two visits abroad and 2 in India. Speaker K.G. Bopaiah and Council chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy have agreed to the amendment.
The file has to be seen by Lawminister Sureshkumar and CM DVS Gowda. The MLAs believe a lot of progress has been made in western countries on agriculture, town development, basic civic facilities transport and such other fields, on which they need to conduct more studies.
The matter was discussed thoroughly and agreed upon. But the expenses to be borne by the state are in range of Rs 20 crores for each tour of 225 MLA s and 75 MLCs.
But the current 32 MLAs and over 40 MLCs have not undertaken such tours.
Due to drought conditions, such luxury trips are not permitted ,with all liabilities involved it is said.
