Mangalore: The sister of charity of St. Vincent convention Kankandy had their centenary year celebrated by Fr. Muller’s Institution at the campus on Thursday, April 19.
Mangalore Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras of Bangalore together conducted the thanks giving Eurcharistic Mass at the chapel of Fr. Muller campus.
There was a felicitation programme with a prayer dance by students, and presentation of a centenary on the occasion Fr. Patrick Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. Sister Matilda Montero felicitated the superiors, nursing superintendents and principal with shawls and gifts.
In her speech the She told that the convent was an integral part of Fr. Muller hospital, and ministered to sick and suffering people, while sharing professional knowledge and skills, with nursing students in hospital.
The sisters served with smiling faces, and cases of death, comforted and consoled the bereaved families to remove pain and anguish. Papal blessing was read out by Sr.Irene Jane D’Souza. Those who completed 10 years of service were giving mementoes and shawls.
The Archbishop spoke in praise of the sisters of charity for their healing touch. A ballet ‘Seva Sankalpa’ was put on board.
