Mangalore : MLA Yogish Bhat distributed loans among Christians at the special event organized by the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited (KMDCL), Government of Karnataka, at the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) on April 21, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that government loan facilities hardly reach the beneficiaries in many cases reserved for the development. He also said that social audit of loans provided must be maintained to determine if the beneficiaries have really benefited by the loan.
MLA U. T. Khader said that loans must be utilized in the right direction and strategies must be developed for economic growth.
KMDCL Chairman N. B. Aboobakker, in his introductory address said that the present BJP government has worked more for minorities than any other government in the past. Hence benefits must directly reach the beneficiaries. He also said that strict action must be taken certain middle men in Raichur and Chikkaballapura.
Franklin Monteiro, the member of the Karnataka State Christian’s Development Committee, said that the BJP-led state government has provided Rs. 6 crore for repair, construction, and renovation of churches and amount of Rs. 370 crore for Christian community welfare.
Total amount of Rs. 138.32 lakhs were distributed through cheques among 825 beneficiaries and self-help groups under a wide range of schemes.
