Mangalore: The dedicated Medical profession in any field of human health was a cosmic from of activity and the hard job was nothing short of conducting cosmic rituals, according to Dr. Augustine Pamplany, director of on Institute of Science and Religion, who delivered a talk on Wednesday at Father Muller’s Medical College (FUMC), about Interfacing Science, Religion and Bio-ethics, organised by the UNESCO chair in Bio-ethics-South India unit here.
He described Medicos as shepherds of cosmos, while defining the medical field and then interlinking it with Religion and Spirituality.
He said that medical treatment was a process, where the patient completely surrenders to the Doctor with questions or doubts not raised, nor any objections taken as if doctor was a deity.
He told listeners to revisit the human body with two out looks one of scientific perspective, and the other through religious one. The human body has posed questions in many incidents to the existing theories of science, he pointed out.
Sometimes the scientific theories are mysterious he added. Discussions followed this intimate talk, with Dr. Prof R. P. Pai joining in, from community Medicine department as chairman of the session.
