Bangalore: As expected earlier on Wednesday and backed by CM DVS Gowda and other BJP leaders, the Kathriguppe Ward BBMP Corporator D. Venkatesh Murthy emerged as 46th Mayor. L. Srinivas of the Padmanabhanagar ward was elected deputy Mayor at the same time by the electorate.

The two BJP names were announced as candidates during a breakfast meeting held in woodlands Hotel by Bangalore City-incharge minister R. Ashok, and other leaders (MLAs and BBMP members of BJP). There was never a doubt of their Winning.

The candidates then offered their nomination papers at the BBMP Central office, to the returning officer. Their ultimate choice was announced in an official release at 3PM on Thursday. There were losing candidates for both the posts.
