Mangalore: Former minister, and MLA from Suratkal, has demanded Rs 25 crores for slander and wrongful defamation by Suvarna Kannada TV Channel for its sting operations and irresponsible libelous news on ‘porngate’ issue, carried relentlessly in the TV Channel, with an intention to blackmail him as a minister inside the VidhanSabha.
He blamed Editor Vishweshwar Bhat of Asianet News and several other news reporters of making merry, by slandering him. The TV Channel is owned by Rajya Sabha MP(re-elected recently) Rajiv Chandresekhar(BJP)/JDS.
P.P. Hedge is Palemar’s defence lawyer in the libel case. ‘Times Now’ news channel has been slapped with a Rs 100 crores in another case, involving retired judge P.B. Sawant wrongfully. Only after depositing this huge fine as a deposit on account in the Supreme Court, the Apex Court would hear an appeal against damages.
Palemar, MLA filed a complaint in the city Court here against the notorious Suvarna TV Channel.
