Mangalore: A portrait unveiling ceremony was organised at Attavara Kannada HP School on Friday, as part of birthday centenary celebrations of an old freedom fighter, Barrister Attavara Yellappa in city.

Ratheendranath president of the school in a speech on the occasion exclaimed that not many knew who Yellappa was.

Nothing has been taught in schools about Yellappa’s sacrifices in the freedom struggle. He expected a concerted effort to remember Yellappa in out history books.

An exhibition was put up on the occasion, having pictures of other freedom fighters, pointed by a Guru from Harihar with Indian(black) ink on a white cloth.
