Mangalore : The Adya Gaud Brahman Sangha will organize the Adya Gaud Brahman Samavesha 2012 at C. V. Nayak Hall near Bunts Hostel on May 6 Sunday.
Addressing reporters at a press meet held at Press Club on May 4, Friday, Secretary Sudharshan Prabhu K. said that there are around 1.2 lakh Adya Gaud Brahmans all over Karnataka and Maharashtra. The community speaks Konkani and is engaged in occupations such as business, manual labour and farming.
Revealing details of the convention, he said that it is the second event of its kind to be held in the city and will include a blood donation camp, a sports meet, and a special event called Halli Aata Oota for rural people.
Further, he said that CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda will inaugurate the event. Prominent citizens such as N. Yogesh Bhat, the deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly; Padmanabha Kottary, the president of the district unit of the BJP; K. L. Rao, the corporate affairs director; Kattanige Sanjeeva Bhat, the senior priest; Dr. Jayaprakash; and K. Bharath Prabhu, the president of the Kudal Deshastha Adya Gaud Brahman Sangha in Udupi district, will be present, he added.
Praveen S. Darbe, the president of the Kudal Deshastha Adya Gaud Brahmin Sangha in Mangalore, will preside over the event, he said.
Members of the community such as Dr. Praveen Nayak, Praveen S. Darbe, and Sanjay Prabhu were also present.
