Mangalore: The management of DK District Wenlock Hospital has setup a new liquefied oxygen plant to provide un-interrupted Oxygen supply not only to operation theatres and intensive care units but also to most of the wards in need.

P. Saroja, district surgeon and superintendent of Hospital, revealed that capacity of new plant was 6,000 litres, as against 420 cylinders earlier.

The plant was inaugurated by her in the presence of Indian Overseas Bank officers. The  IOB has given  Rs 8 lakh for plant and civil works, as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The huge plant is economically supported by British Oxygen Corporation.

There will be no waste, no leakage, no manual work of carrying small cylinders hereafter, but only a continuous supply of oxygen when required.

An amount of Rs10 lakhs is needed to supply Oxygen to each and every ward in the hospital, and this will be met by donors, Dr. P. Saroja indicated.
