Mangalore : “ The government would think in terms of having a memorial for the great freedom fighter Barrister Attavar Yellappa after consultations with the committee leaders,” said Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda.
Inaugurating the valedictory function of the birth centenary of freedom fighter Barrister Attavara Yellappa in the city on May 6, Sunday, he said the sacrifices and the valuable contributions made by great men like Attavara Yellappa should serve as an inspiration to the younger generation.
A souvenir brought out to commemorate the occasion was released by Union Minister for Corporate Affairs M Veerappa Moily. Justice Santosh Hegde, former Lokayukta, presided over the function.
Subroth Bose (Netaji Subhashchandra Bose’s nephew), Prof Jagmohan Singh (Bhagath Singh’s nephew), Adil Shah Nawaz (Shah Nawaz Khan’s grandson) Poornima Dhillon and V P Saini, Chairman, Nethaji Research Foundation were felicitated on the occasion.
Local elected representatives Nalin Kumar Kateel, Yogish Bhat, Ramanatha Rai and others were present on the occasion.
