Udupi :  Kaup police on May 17, Thursday arranged public meets at Katapady and Kaup in the backdrop of the increasing cases of thefts, pickpockets and chain snatching cases in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Shivanand Walikar, Kaup Circle Inspector, urged the public to be wary of strangers and also not to encourage salesmen and rag pickers as there is every possibility of thieves posing themselves as rag pickers or salesman to know about certain households.

He also asked the public to inform the police whenever they went on a vacation by  locking up their houses and also to tip off the police in case of any suspicious behavior of strangers. He further requested the public not to carry jewellery and huge amount while travelling.

Gowri Shanker, SI of Katapady, Ganesh, Assistant Sub-inspector of Kaup and other police personnel of the two stations were present at the meet.
