Mangalore: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda said he wants the youth to take the initiative in seeing to it that every welfare programme reached till the last man in the society without the intervention of any middlemen.
He was speaking as a special invitee at the massive Yuva Jagrithi Samavesha (Youth Awareness Convention) organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha at the Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on May 22, Tuesday.
The CM also exhorted the youth to pave way for a new political era in the nation through a clean political image.
Launching a tirade against the UPA government at the Centre, he said the UPA lacked the committment to find an effective solution to several of the burning issues before the nation and alleged that it was more interested in appeasing the minorities.
Earlier, inaugurating the convention, Anurag Singh Thakur, National President of BJP Yuva Morcha said unemployment, rising inflation and corruption was the contribution of the UPA government at the Centre. He said the time was ripe for a BJP led government to rule the nation and called upon the younger generation to play an active role in this regard.
KS Eshwarappa, State BJP President, who also spoke emphasized the need for a suitable legislation against religious conversion of the poor by luring them.
State Rural Development Minister Jagadish Shettar, Chakravathi Soolibele, youth leader and others spoke on the occasion Navya R Shetty of Bantwal, SSLC topper in the state, was felicitated on the occasion by the chief minister.
State ministers R Ashok, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Ramdas, Narayana Swami, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, State BJP Spokesman CT Ravi, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and others were present.
It were saffron flags everywhere in the city on Tuesday when Yuva Morcha workers from around the state had converged for the convention.
