Bangalore : The dark shadows of land scam is now hovering over Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, the supreme head of the Okkaliga Community.

A certain Lakshminarayana has filed a private petition against the seer and over 23 others  in the Lokayukta court. The allegation against the seer is that he had unauthorisedly sold  the 15 acre land  which the government had handed over to the Ramalingeshwara Trust for building a temple near Hulimavu on Bangalore South . It has been learnt that over 27 persons are accused in this case, including five IAS officers. It is said though the name of BBMP officer Shankeralingegowda too was in the list of accused, the petitioner had removed it in the last minute.

The special court of the Lokayukta which accepted the petition has adjourned the hearing for May 29.

Responding to the allegations, the seer whose Adichunchanagiri Trust is running schools, colleges and hospitals, has clarified that there had been no irregularities and the charges against him were baseless.
