Mangalore : The society can develop in the true sense when there is  social equality and the gap between the haves and the have-nots   reduce to a great extent, said N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly.

He was speaking after inaugurating a programme organized by the District Adi Dravida Samaja Seva Sangha at Town Hall in Mangalore in connection with Dr BR Ambedkar Birth anniversary celebrations. Talented students were honoured, financial aid was extended towards the treatment of the economically weak sections and achievers were honoured on the occasion.

On this occasion, Bhat also exhorted social service organizations to strive to see that the benefits of the government schemes reached the last man in the society.

Krishna Souterpete, President of District Adi Dravida Samaja Seva Sangha, presided over the function.

Arun Furtado, District Social Welfare Officer,  K Vaman, Deputy Tahsildar, K Srikar Prabhu, BJP Leader and several others were present on the occasion.
