Bangalore: South West Monsoon which has entered Kerala on June 4, Monday, is expected to advance further into Karnataka on June 5, Tuesday. Due to low pressure area in Arabian Sea, there was disturbance in wind flow, thus affecting the advancement of monsoon until now.
The monsoon which will first enter coastal and Western Ghat areas will later advance to southern and interior Karnataka in the days to come. According to met department sources, the Western ghat area is expected to receive over 7 cm of rainfall while the southern region may experience 5 to 6 cm of rainfall.
Met department sources have also said that Monsoons would enter north Karnataka in the third week of June but it might not rain as expected.
