Udupi : A mother and her pregnant daughter died in a tragic road mishap at Santhekatte in Udupi on June 4, Monday. The deceased are Meenakshi (32) and Jalaja (55) of Saligrama Karkada. The autorickshaw driver and another  person sustained injuries in the mishap  wherein a lorry collided against the autorickshaw.

The accident took place when the two were on way to the Ajjarkad Government Hospital in Udupi for a check-up as Meenakshi was pregnant. Meenakshi’s husband Santosh Poojari was himself driving the auto. He and one Sachin sustained injuries.

Udupi police are conducting the investigations.
