Mangalore : Hundreds of beedi workers led by the DK Beedi Workers’ Federation affiliated to the AIT UC staged a demonstration in front of the DC office in Mangalore on June 5, Tuesday in protest against the cancellation of scholarships to children of  beedi workers on the pretext of implementation of free and compulsory education policy. The agitators demanded that scholarships be provided to the children of beedi workers studying in classes from one to eight  as usual.

P Sanjeeva, President of the Federation, V Seetaram Berinja, Secretary, Chandappa Anchan, President of Beedi and Tobacco Labour Union and several  others took part in the protest.
