Mangalore, June 8, 2012: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Moti Mahal said that BJP and Congress parties have done nothing for the welfare of teachers and graduations constituency failed to take voters into confidence.
He further stated that during the ‘Grama Vasthavya Campaign’ JDS party has given 1400 high schools, 500 junior colleges, 189 first grade colleges along with 6 medical and 6 engineering colleges, where as BJP was able to give only 169 first grade colleges.
He also blamed that during the BJP government, no teachers were appointed from 1999 to 2004from congress and 28,000 teachers and lecturers had been appointed during the 20 month of the JDS party’s tenure he said.
During his tenure as CM, he had given Rs 2000 as subsidy for trainee advocates, Rs 25,000 for engineering students and Rs 75,000 for medical students but BJP government stopped it.
JDS leader Puttanna said that Mr. Shankarmurthy had not done anything significant as an elected representative from the Teachers Constituency and is taking the credit of achievements made in the coalition government.
He further said that as like every year even this year more than 50 to 60 lakhs students in the state are not provided with text books.
