Mangalore: Chief District and Sessions Judge Ashok G Ningannavar, has called upon the society to ensure every possible steps to protect child rights.
Speaking after inaugurating the World Anti-Child Labour Day programme in Mangalore on June 12, Tuesday, he said children continue to be exploited in various forms like child labour, child trafficking, flesh trade etc and added ignorance of the society on child rights issue was the reason for the same.
Dharmayya, DCP, Mangalore, said the growing awareness on child rights is evident with a number of child rights violation cases being registered of late. Dr. Harish Kumar, Commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation, administered anti-child labour oath to the gathering on the occasion.
KN Vijayaprakash, Chief Executive Officer of DK Zilla Panchayat was among those present on the occasion.
The programme was jointly organized by the district administration, Department of Labour, District Child Labour Project Society and DK District Legal Services Authority
