Puttur : Police have launched a manhunt for Venkatramana Bhat who is the suspected killer of his wife and three children at Kakkur in Bettampady as Bhat is missing ever since the body of his wife and three children were found in a pool of blood at their house..
Even police have come to the conclusion that Bhat himself is the killer. Any further action in this case could be taken once Venktramana Bhat is trapped. Moreover, the case will come to a close technically if he has committed suicide.
The shocking and gruesome murders had come to light on the morning of June 12. The murder had taken place on the night of June 11, and it was the very same day when police had summoned Bhat to the station in connection with the so called dacoity that had taken place in his house on June 4. The police who had investigated had found that there had been no dacoity.
On the other hand, even Bhat was aware that the police had come to know the truth. He also came to know that his wife and children too were keen to divulge the truth. And this reason might have prompted him to kill them. It is believed that he had injected his wife and children with anesthetics after they slept on June 11 and then brutally hacked them to death.
Vimala Naika who was employed by Bhat for typing works had informed her father that the accused had threatened her when she had been to his house on June 12. Her father, it is learnt, had been to Bhat’s house the next day to enquire but had returned when no one opened the door.
It was only on June 14 when the murder came to light that Vimala and her father had informed the police about the matter. Investigations have revealed that the two had no role in the murder.
It is believed that Venkatramana Bhat had feared that his reputation would be at stake if the truth about the dacoity stood exposed . Meanwhile, police have found obscene CDs in the computer room outside his house. Even a country gun has been found. His mobile has been switched off and there is a suspicion that he might have fled towards Kerala or was in hiding in Bangalore or Mysore.
