Mangalore : Shridar Shetty, president of JCI Suratkal inaugurated “Kesarugadde Grameena Kreedotsava,” a rural sports event at Pragathi Nagar in Suratkal on Aug 8, Sunday.
Krishna J. Palemar, District-in-charge Minister said that one must know the importance of rural games and village life, which will build the religious harmony among the children and youths. He also distributed power tillers to farmers.
Joint director of the department of agriculture, A. Padmayya Naik said that encouraging rural games for people is the finest way to protect and preserve culture and agriculture. He stated the significance of teaching agricultural skills among the younger generation.
Around 3000 – 4000 people participated in various rural games such as treasure hunt, packing rice, tug of war, beedi rolling, weaving coconut leaves, kesarugadde Ota, paddana, blindfold pot breaking, planting rice saplings, and others.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Uday Kumar Shetty, General Manager of Shashi Exports, Lekshmi Kumaran, DGM of MRPL, Damodar Shetty, president of SVSS Bank were present on the occasion.
