Mangalore: Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh launched  the website smsindia4blood.com aimed at saving lives by arranging for blood donation. Those in need of blood have to  just pass on a mobile message.

In his address, Singh expressed confidence that this new venture of some service minded youth would be of great service to mankind and would save precious lives which may otherwise be lost for want of blood.

RTO C Mallikarjun inaugurated the Mobile Registration service while Anand, Vice President of Udayavani released the  SMSindia4Blood jingle composed by BAND-AID, a music band launched by youngsters in Mangalore.

Ananthakrishna Bhat, ex-officio Chairman of Karnataka Bank, Narendra Nayak, Chairman of Expert, Ananth Prabhu G, the brain behind the project and others were present on the occasion.

Those interested to donate blood can log onto the smsindia4blood.com and register their names. Those who are in urgent need of blood need only send an sms to 56767500  giving the blood group and the city name. Immediately, he will get a message with the telephone number of three blood donors.
