Mangalore : Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat speaking in a press meet held at dc Office on June 28, Thursday said that usage of drugs and narcotics in the state is increasing steadily and is as dangerous as terrorism.
He was discussing the issue of growing drug menace in the city with many other officials from police, health, narcotics, environment, and other departments like narcotics, environment, police and health.
Bhat said that based on the discussion, a report will be submitted in order to raised issue next session in the Assembly, so that government can take apt measures.
He also said that apart from it, Narcotics and Health Departments will also submit the proposal to check the supply of drugs from Goa, Kerala and other places and also enhancing dog squad services for drug detection will be made.
Madikeri MLA Appachchu Ranjan said that Mangalore which is famous as educational hub is also known as drug hub at present. Hence cameras must be installed in educational institutions and students must have done with the alcohol test, which discourages them from having drugs, he said.
He said that the state government will compensate and rehabilitate total of 1,400 families in the Western Ghats including Malekudiyas of Belthangady.
