Bangalore : The 2012-13 budget of the BBMP with a total outlay of Rs 9,498.90 crores and a surplus of Rs 1335 crores was presented on Thursday. The noteworthy features of the budget have been proposals to construct five signal free corridors and 10 multi storied vehicle parking complexes at a cost of Rs 200 crores.
The budget has anticipated a revenue of Rs 8,137.95 crores from various sources and a grant of Rs 1,151crores from the government.
KA Munindra Kumar, President of the BBMP Standing Committee on Taxes and Finance, presented the budget. The budget has proposed LPG connection to eligible 100 families belonging to economically backward families in every ward, financial assistance to poor auto drivers to install digital meters and a special grant of Rs 135 crores for development of110 villages newly included in BBMP limits.
The BBMP aims to collect Rs 2000 crore revenue from property tax and plans to raise Rs 1000 crore through municipal bonds. The signal free corridors are likely to come up on Dr Rajkumar Road, Hosur Road, Old airport road and two other roads.
