Udupi: Senior journalist Asha Krishnaswamy inaugurated the Press Day programmes organized by the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association by  unveiling the photo copy of the first edition of Mangalore Samachara, the first Kannada newspaper of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, she exhorted the journalists to make the best use of the RTI  in order to provide more authentic information to the public.

SK Shyamsunder, Editor of oneindia.in emphasized the need for steps to popularize Kannada in the web.
Udupi DySP Prabhudev Maane, Kiran Manjanbail, Udupi District Journalists Association President, Jayakar Suvarna, Secretary and other office bearers were present.

UNI Reporter Madhava Acharya was felicitated on the occasion. A photography exhibition was also organized. Prizes were also awarded to winners of essay contest.
