Bangalore: After weeks of political crisis in Karnataka, the BJP high command has finally decided to replace Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda by Jagadish Shettar, a Lingayat leader who is also presently holding the rural development portfolio.
With this the high command has buckled to pressure from the Yeddyurappa camp, bringing down a chief minister who was widely appreciated during his 11-month stint which saw many ups and downs, mainly owing to the dissident activities of the Yeddyurappa faction.
Shettar will be the third BJP chief minister in its four year long rule. The CM has already left for Delhi to meet party leaders.
Latest reports say DV Sadananda Gowda has informed that he would adhere to the high command decision and that makes the way clear for Shettar to take charge.
