Mangalore:  The DK District Football Association will be organizing the  16th Independence Cup Football Tournament in Mangalore from July 14. The tourney will be played at the Football grounds adjacent to the Nehru Maidan. Deputy Mayor Amitha Kala will inaugurated the tourney which will be played in seven categories.

Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on July 11, DM Aslam, and President of the Association said  nearly 150 teams have registered for the tourney and added registration will continue till July 20.

The final match will be on August 15, he informed. The Association has been organizing the tournament since 1997 to mark the golden jubilee year of Indian independence
