Bangalore: Jagadish Shettar from Hubli, a senior BJP leader was sworn in as the 21st Chief Minister of Karnataka in a simple ceremony held at Rajbhavan in Bangalore on July 12, Thursday.
Shettar took oath in the name of God amid applause from his supporters. He is the third chief minister in the four year old BJP government, the first BJP government in the South. State BJP President KS Eshwarappa and R Ashok were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.
As far as undivided DK district goes Kota Srinivas Poojari, BJP MLC from Kundapur got a berth in the cabinet, much to the pleasure of BJP supporters in Udupi district. However, reports said though CC Patil, Krishna Palemar and Lakshman Savadi too were supposed to get berths, their involvement in the blue film scandal and the Governor’s advice against including them, deprived them of a chance.
Former CM Yeddyurappa and outgoing CM Sadananda Gowda were seen seated together.
