Kasargod: Police authorities in Kasargod are initiating stern steps to prevent communal tensions in Kasargod by making it mandatory for all to seek the permission of the district administration before setting up any religious shrine.
According to S Surendran, District Superintendent of Police, no work on any religious structure can commence without the permission of the authorities. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of senior officials held at Tiruvananthapuram.
However, the decision has come under criticism from some corners. The Kasargod Samyukta Jamaat Committee said such a decision would hurt religious sentiments. He said The Committee said the authorities may very well deny permit to construct religious shrines citing law and order reasons.
